For as
long as she can remember Marta has longed to make a
difference in people’s lives. Beginning with teaching a
Bible study for high school girls through Young Life, Marta
invested over 25 years in the personal and spiritual
transformation of others. She served in a variety of roles
on several church staffs ranging from developing leaders and
volunteer teams to pastoring children and teens. She also
directed and taught in Christian school, preschool, after
school and summer day camp programs. Marta has a Master’s
degree in Child and Family Studies and a Bachelor’s degree
in Education from the University of Tennessee.
In 2003 Marta earned certification as a facilitator through
Contemporary Consulting. She is an active member of the
Leadership Knoxville Facilitator’s Group which trains
community groups in collaborative leadership processes and
teambuilding. She also earned certification as a
congregational coach through
Valwood Christian
Leadership Coaching and serves as President Elect of the
East Tennessee Coaches Association. She works part time
for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tennessee Valley
matching volunteers with children who could benefit from a
positive mentoring friendship, and commits time each year to
volunteering in her son’s school.
Through these experiences Marta discovered a passion to
champion the dreams of the next generation. She is convinced
that success and fulfillment result from focusing on
strengths, not fixing weaknesses, and believes that each
person is naturally gifted to make a unique contribution to
society. She empowers young people to fulfill their dreams
by discovering their strengths, gifts and passions. Marta
recognizes the powerful influence parents, teachers, coaches
and other adults have in the lives of young people. She
equips those influencers to recognize and affirm the unique
strengths and gifts of each young person, and encourage them
to choose life paths that fit who they are.
Marta lives in Knoxville with her husband, Tim, and son,
Ethan. She has two grown sons, Jordan and Michael. Marta
enjoys watching Ethan play sports, U.T. Vols football,
reading, walking her dog, Charlie, biking and disc golf.
